Engineering Seamless Connectivity
The primary challenge for this renovation was to introduce a substantial new volume – including a garage and primary suite expansion – while ensuring the structural continuity of the existing 1950s-era foundation. GDS led the comprehensive structural design and permit documentation, utilizing a "Hybrid Framing" strategy to support the increased loads within a refined architectural silhouette.
The design intervention focused on a "Zoned Social Integration" strategy:
Integrated Architectural & Interior Hub: We re-engineered the main level living area into an open-concept core. GDS designed both the structural layout and curated the interior finishes – including custom cabinetry specs, ambient lighting plans, and material palettes – to form a warm, unified central gathering space.
Cohesive Interior Finish Curation: Beyond floor plan layout, our interior design services selected durable, high-end materials, custom millwork, paint schedules, and tile specifications that bridge classic New England warmth with clean modern lines.
Expanded Private & Utility Zones: The floor plan reconfigures private bedroom suites, custom bath layouts, and transition zones like mudrooms and laundry areas, ensuring every square foot serves a clear practical purpose.
Technical Performance & Compliance: The full permit and interior construction sets detail precision structural framing, energy-efficient building envelope upgrades, custom interior elevations, and strict code compliance for lasting peace of mind.
The result is a beautifully executed residence where architectural clarity meets thoughtful interior design, delivering a complete home built for comfort, style, and longevity.
