Classical Victorian Aesthetic Meets Modern Multi-Generational Living 

The architectural challenge for this project was to create a 5-bedroom, 4.5-bathroom luxury home that felt like a historic European estate while functioning as a 21st-century family retreat. GDS led the comprehensive design and documentation for this high-density residential program, ensuring every square foot served a specific lifestyle goal.

The design intervention focused on a "Tri-Level" programming strategy:

• The Main Level Social Core: We engineered an expansive open-concept floor plan that serves as the home's heart, featuring a gourmet kitchen with a butler’s pantry, a formal dining room, and a grand living room. The layout provides seamless access to a sprawling rear deck, including a specialized three-season porch for year-round indoor-outdoor connectivity.

• Integrated In-Law Privacy: A key requirement was the inclusion of a secondary master/in-law suite. GDS designed this as a semi-autonomous wing with a private entrance, kitchenette, and dedicated side-yard patio, allowing for independent living within the larger family structure.

• High-Performance Lower Level: The walk-out basement was reimagined as a premier entertainment zone. The scope included a rec room, den, and a guest suite, all leading out to a covered patio equipped with a full outdoor kitchen and storage/utility space.

• Victorian Architectural Detail: The Exterior Elevations showcase a complex roof system with architectural shingles, standing seam metal accents, and vinyl shakes at the gables. The design utilizes composite trim, stone veneer bases, and high-performance windows to achieve a timeless European look with modern durability.

The result is a landmark Canton residence that offers the perfect balance of grand architectural tradition and specialized, modern utility.
