Brookline Salon

Brookline, MA 1,655 sq. ft.

  • Urban Modernization & High-Density Design
The architectural challenge for this project involved maximizing the utility of a 1,655-square-foot footprint to accommodate a robust service program. The project required a meticulous balance of technical infrastructure – specifically for heavy water and electrical usage – with a sophisticated interior aesthetic that reflects the brand’s identity.

The design intervention focused on a comprehensive "Programmatic Mapping" strategy:

    • Specialized Service Zones: The floor plan was engineered to support eight high-end styling stations, four wash stations, and a dedicated color station, all positioned to allow for maximum movement in a high-traffic environment.

    • Elevated Guest Experience: Beyond the styling floor, the scope included a curated host station, a comfortable waiting lounge, and a specialized photography area designed to showcase the salon's work in the best light.

    • Technical Integration: GDS provided full architectural documentation including reflected ceiling plans and MEP/FP coordination to handle the complex utility requirements of a modern salon, alongside upgrades to two toilet rooms and the staff office.

    • Storefront Revitalization: The scope extended to the exterior facade and storefront, ensuring the salon’s physical presence in the Brookline neighborhood matches the quality of the services provided within.

The result is a precision-engineered retail environment that provides a scalable blueprint for luxury salon operations in a dense urban setting.
