The Precision of As-Built Documentation
The architectural challenge for this project centered on capturing the nuances of a traditional residential structure to prepare for a significant modern update. We specialized in the existing conditions phase, serving as the technical anchor for the project’s design and permit trajectory.
The documentation intervention focused on absolute data accuracy:
Comprehensive Architectural Survey: We conducted a top-to-bottom survey of the property, documenting existing floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, and exterior elevations. This baseline data is vital for ensuring new additions integrate perfectly with the home's original structural geometry.
Technical Asset Creation: The As-Built Progress sets translated physical measurements into a high-fidelity digital framework. These plans serve as the primary resource for the land surveyor, structural engineer, and general contractor, reducing field errors during the construction phase.
Structural & Design Readiness: By mapping the existing load-bearing walls and utility locations, we provided the "road map" for a proposed renovation. This technical groundwork allows for a more creative and ambitious design phase, knowing the structural constraints are fully accounted for.
Collaborative Coordination: Throughout the PD, SD, and DD phases, we maintained a rigorous mark-up and revision process to ensure the transition from as-built documentation to permit-ready construction documents was flawless.
The result is a precision-engineered starting point that empowers the homeowners to move forward with a large-scale renovation with total confidence.
